Frequently asked questions
With natural stone it is accepted that up to 10% breakage can occur. Broken tiles can always be used in corners where sawing is required. Please make sure to order an extra quantity at each yard that can absorb this fracture. Any subsequent deliveries are entirely the responsibility of the buyer. Any complaints must be proven with broken tiles.
When ordering special custom work, a prepayment of 50% must be made. These special projects cannot be canceled and are subject to full purchase and payment obligation. Delivery times are indicative and depend on both overseas and maritime influences. Exceeding this is no reason to cancel the order.
We always recommend ordering the entire site at once and on time. In order to minimize color and size differences, we recommend agreeing a delivery period of at least 3 months so that the material for larger sites can be produced and delivered at once. Custom work is not delivered, always to be picked up.
It is always useful to have a few tiles left. Something can always happen and then you have a small surplus to carry out a repair. A good measurement of the surface to be placed means that you can perfectly determine how many extra tiles you want. With a small space and with larger tiles, the cutting loss will be higher in percentage, as will the reserve that you must provide. Make sure that if you do a repair later, the natural stone has acquired a patina and will therefore differ in color.
For some stones - this is described in our technical data sheets - we recommend taking into account 10 to 15% breakage loss. This means that you have to order 10 to 15% for the planned surface area of your floor because the stone contains natural fractures. During installation it is possible that a stone breaks. This naturally increases the cost price by 10 to 15%. The alternative is that they do not market the broken stones in the quarry. The return of that quarry is lower, then certainly expect that the price will be more than 15% more expensive. The lower selling price compensates for the work involved in this fracture loss. It cannot therefore be demanded that the supplier be asked to make a selection in his crates for these materials. The stones that do not break during installation will not break later either. A well-placed natural stone is forever. This also applies to natural stones with veining and hairline cracks. It belongs once and is part of the character of the stone.
Because you need to mix tiles when flooring, it is best to order the entire quantity you need in one go. If this is not possible, we advise you to first finish one room, preferably one that is separated from the other locations. Some stones are much more prone to color differences than others.
